Vintage Ethiopian Headrest - 19.4 by Botanical Boys

These solid wood Headrests are from groups in southern Ethiopia used to enable people to sleep without interfering with their complicated coiffure (hairstyles). Hairstyles frequently declare their owner's age, gender and status, and are often embellished by accoutrements of a magic-religious nature. Hairstyles therefore need protecting. The headrest also plays a role in nuptial ceremonies.

Dark wood with slight marks and scratches and cracks maybe apparent in some of the headrests which add to their authentic nature.
