Main Description

A traditional Umuvure vessel from Rwanda, hand-carved from a single section of timber. Vessels such as this were used to ferment urwagwa, the local banana beer – an everyday object at the centre of community brewing and gatherings.

Old metal repairs remain visible across the vessel, adding to its individual character and reflecting its working history. With its long, low form and richly aged surface, it now makes a striking sculptural object for a console, low table or collected interior.
